The IVPC, or International Virtual Production Courses, project is a Nordplus supported initiative that aims to provide Nordic film and TV professionals with a foundational understanding of Virtual Production (VP) and related technologies. The project is aimed at developing courses that introduce the practical applications of VP to the film/TV sectors, equipping professionals with the knowledge they need to stay up to date with the latest industry developments.
By understanding core concepts of Virtual Production and related technologies, Nordic film and TV professionals can stay on par with current advances, while gaining methods for moving towards a more sustainable industry. The project is developing two blended-format courses. One that focus on VP and its connections with the industry’s need to lower its CO2 emissions. Another that introduces the practical application of Virtual Production concepts by letting participants develop previsualisations and define production details, using Virtual Production methods and tools.
The courses focus on developing a conceptual understanding of VP. One course enables producers, directors, cinematographers, and production designers to plan for it by exploring key preproduction.
The IVPC project partners met regularly for workshops to facilitate their incremental development approach. This collaborative approach enabled the partners to continuously discuss their progress, evaluate their results, and identify areas for improvement. The regular workshops also allowed the project partners to leverage each other’s strengths and expertise to analyse complex problems and could identify potential roadblocks proactively, address them, and make informed decisions about the direction of the project.
By meeting for Transnational Project Meetings ( TPM ) in tandem with the workshops, the project partners developed a joint administrative overview and commitment to the project. Resulting in an informed management of the project and shared ownership of its deliveries.
